Our Community Hall is Coming VERY Soon!
Sarsfield’s New Community Hall is Finally Happening!
It’s official—construction of our brand new Sarsfield Recreation Reserve Community Hall is about to begin!
After years of hard work, setbacks, and determination, we’re thrilled to share that East Gippsland Shire Council has awarded the construction contract, paving the way for this long-awaited project to get underway. Our community has stood strong through some incredibly tough times, and this moment is a testament to what we can achieve when we work together.
The new hall will replace our current 60-year-old building, which many of us remember as a vital place of refuge and connection during and after the Black Summer bushfires. What’s coming next is more than just a building—it’s a new chapter.
The updated facility will include flexible meeting rooms, a large function space, commercial kitchen, play area and more—everything we need to stay connected, active, and supported as a community.
We’re also excited to announce that Brooker Builders will be managing the construction. We look forward to working with their team to bring our shared vision to life.
“This community has faced so much,” said Mayor Cr John White. “This project is a major milestone, and it wouldn’t have happened without Sarsfield’s relentless advocacy, strength and unity.”
Simon Hof, our former Sarsfield Community Association president, put it perfectly:
“The really powerful story here is Sarsfield itself. This hall isn’t just about bricks and mortar—it’s about renewal, resilience, and continuing to grow our incredible community spirit.”
Let’s Pitch In – Then Celebrate!
The builder officially takes possession of the site on May 21 — but before that, we need your help. We’ll be holding a working bee on the 17th of May to clear out the existing hall and move everything into storage.
Once the job’s done, we’re hosting a thank you dinner for all volunteers, catered by The Stables. It’s our way of saying thanks and taking a moment to celebrate this massive step forward together.
We need to know if you are coming to the working bee and dinner, so make sure you book in as soon as you can so we can order the appropriate catering.
We’ll be sharing more details soon—but for now, mark your calendars and get ready to roll up your sleeves. This hall is for all of us, and it’s happening because of all of us.
